The Golden Buddha

Finally managed to put to final touch of my Golden Buddha that i finished last year but didn't have the time to cook it, when looking at my choice, why Buddha,I thought after the last 2 i have done, wanted to choose something less rebellious in its expressions and its meaning, but as much as easy it seems, the Buddha sculptures are considered classic, it is a bit hard to make, it took several month to make, but i am happy with the results and the Zen sensation that it can give while looking at it

my version of Buddha cooked ready for coloring

I decided for this time not to oxidize the sculpture so I only used a base golden color

Study of Jean-batiste Carpeaux sulpture

Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (May11,1827-October 12,1875) was a French sculptor and a painter, his early studies were under Francois Rude.
one of my favorites work done by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux is known as the  " Fontaine des Quatre Parties du monde, "  the four parts of the world. Embodied by its female figures representative of  Europe, Asia, Africa and America, twisting their bodies to turn the sphere also called " Fontaine de l'Observatoire "

This monumental fountain is  located south of the Jardin du Luxembourg in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. It was dedicated in 1874

you can also see another version of it in the Musée d'Orsay,

for my studies i have chosen one of the figures of this great sculpture, it took many months to finish but i really enjoyed working on it, after cooking it i decided to give it the Patina green effect, so i used gilded gold base coat and then applied the green Patina
